Youth Services

Youth Services

At BCIS we are pleased to offer our newest settlement service for newcomer youth between the ages of 12  and 20.  Our goal is to connect newcomer youth to our community, and our community to them!

Our services fall under three different areas:

1. Feeling at Home

If you have an issue or concern and don’t know where to get help, we will either help you directly or connect you to the people who can.

Appointments are available Wednesdays between 3:00 and 7:00 pm.  Call to book. 403-362-0404.

2. Youth Group  For ALL youth, grades 8 to 12

The purpose of the youth group is to explore our community and have fun together.

Each month, we:

  • volunteer in our community.
  • learn about life in Canada and fun things like how to get a driver’s license, what to do in a job interview and how to pay for college.
  • visit different organizations to learn about their services and also discover what career opportunities are available.
  • have fun together by trying out different recreational activities such as swimming, skiing and bowling.

3. Study Help

Tuesdays: Drop-in homework help for all subjects.  Come to BCHS, Mr. Mason’s room #2016, at 3:30.  Students from other schools are welcome to attend, but must respect school rules.

Saturdays: Math & Science help is available at the Brooks Public Library between 1 & 2 pm.  You must sign up for help by the Friday before by posting a message on our Facebook page or by calling Joseph at 403-362-0404.
